The Motability scheme has been traditionally thought of being for cars. However more people are obtaining scooters through the scheme as an alternative. In recent times the scheme has also extended to include powered wheelchairs along with any custom seating needs required on that chair.
Whilst scooters are available through a variety of outlets TT Mobility is one of the few providers in the UK who are registered with Motability to provide custom-build powered wheelchairs through the scheme. This is due to the level of clinical and technical expertise we offer as a provider.
You are eligible for the Motability scheme if you receive the higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance or War Pensioners Mobility allowance, and you have at least 12 months award length remaining when you apply for Motability. The scheme works through a lease arrangement, with the relevant amount of your allowance being paid direct to Motability. As most scooters and powered wheelchairs through Motability cost less than your allowance the remainder will be paid directly to you. Motability take pride in providing worry-free mobility. Repairs, breakdowns and insurance are all taken care of under the scheme as part of the costs. TT Mobility plays an active part in ensuring you and your mobility equipment are cared for through this scheme.

Part or full funding is available from a variety of sources, each with their own eligibility criteria. Below is a list of possible options but it is by no means exhaustive. A lot of medical conditions have their own charity which provides support and information and we recommend you make contact with the relevant charity to see if they can help you. In addition the government's new Health and Social Care Bill may provide additional funding options through statutory services although these options are not clear at the moment.
This scheme was introduced by the government to give people a greater choice in the selection of their wheelchair. Each wheelchair service operates the scheme slightly differently. You must however meet their criteria for the provision of a wheelchair and have been assessed at your local wheelchair service before receiving a voucher towards the cost. For further details of the scheme please speak to your local wheelchair service. At TT Mobility we work with all the wheelchair services within our primary trading area to provide wheelchairs via the voucher scheme. Through our clinical and technical expertise we can assist you in identifying the most appropriate wheelchair and seating for you and supply it in conjunction with your voucher.
This is government funding that can help you if your health or disability affects the way you do your job. Amongst other things it can give a grant towards equipment that you need for work including wheelchairs and seating.
